They are each about 2.50 m high and each has a different faces Each one is placed in a specific direction, North, South, East, West, North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West, so that the whole installation forms a wind rose.

The artist's words.

A few words from Thomas, the artist who created the exhibition:

« I chose to install this pack of monumental, ghostly, luminescent wolves as if they were taking over the whole city. Each one posted on a different building, each one with a singular expressive attitude, my nine wolves stare, threaten, bite, howl or simply watch, sometimes with amusement, the ballet of the skiers…

Avoriaz was born in the sixties on a quiet plateau of the Alps, then dedicated to pastoralism. The utopia of a handful of men gradually took shape until the resort was created from scratch, and became famous throughout the world for its international fantasy film festival, which is now over. But how to make a city without denaturing it? How can mass tourism and nature coexist? These questions are more topical today than ever.

Exactly forty years ago, in 1982, the film « Wolfen » won the special jury prize at the Avoriaz festival: in the middle of town, mysterious animals carrying the spirit of the wolf and the ancient natives attack humans… As a film critic wrote about the film at the time: « …they see further than we do, these creatures, nothing escapes them. And if need be, they strike (…) Is there a place for survival, for the echo of the past in a society that devours everything? » (Grégory Joulin. Citizen Poulpe)… This year, in June, a real wolf attacked a herd of goats on the outskirts of the resort. A real one…

I would like to thank all the people who made this exhibition possible, in particular Nadège Meillier, David Piget, Sébastien Mérignargues, Eric Fontanay, Aube Marullaz, Justine Taberlet, Maryne Hennequin, Margot Givelet and the technical services teams for their fabulous work… «
