Trail Running

Avoriaz

Trail

Between France and Switzerland, on the summits of Chablais, our waymarked trails promise all the joys of running at high altitude. So why not try it this summer?

Linked up by 23 lifts, this borderless region boasts 32 peaks exceeding elevations of 2,000 metres that can be reached on foot. So it’s only natural that the Portes du Soleil, a summer playground of unmatched dynamism, should become a hotspot for trail runners.

Trail running reinvented without borders

Avoriaz invites you to travel beyond the borders, between France and Switzerland, on one of the 54 permanent routes. With the Multi Pass card, you can choose your valley, your village of departure and level of difficulty (distance/elevation range), then slip on your trainers and off you go.

A dedicated terrain marker with a precise pictogram will allow each runner to follow his path easily. More than 1,700 pictograms and a sign every 250 m or so will ensure that runners find their way easily.

Morzine – Avoriaz trail running

The Tourist Offices of Morzine and Avoriaz propose a whole website devoted to Morzine Avoriaz trail running where you’ll find all the information you need about running in the mountains.
This includes details about specific trail runs for all levels (with route map, profile and detailed description), a brief about waymarkers used on permanent routes, multi-media overviews, excursion suggestions, a calendar of trail races taking place in the vicinity of the resort, and much more. In short, nothing has been left out.
You can also join our Morzine Trail Running Facebook group to chat with other trail runners.

Trail running for all

Whether you’re a novice or an experienced runner, the summer lifts offer you that fresh mountain air without the huffing and puffing. The elevation range becomes feasible and a pleasure that anyone can enjoy. For less difficulty and greater enjoyment, get your Multi Pass, download the Portes du Soleil Trail Running app on your smartphone, and head for the starting line at the tourist office of one of the Portes du Soleil villages !

MobileApp

Run safely across borders with the free Portes du Soleil Trail Running mobile app.

This allows runners to monitor their progress in real time with GPS tracking, get live weather info from the webcams, benefit from a rescue alert feature, and even export the GPS outline of the itinerary.
The application can also show you the terrain profile on a given loop as well as remarks from other runners…
