What happens
when you arrive
in Avoriaz ?
Avoriaz was designed as a fully pedestrian resort. In both winter and summer, its streets are reserved for getting around the resort, while cars remain in nearby car parks. This makes arriving a little different from arriving at a conventional resort.
Don’t worry: the steps are simple, and welcome staff are on hand to point you in the right direction. Just make your way to Avoriaz, follow their instructions and let them guide you. Then you can start enjoying the Avoriaz experience.
Before you set off
To make your arrival easier, keep these three details handy:
- The name of your residence or accommodation.
- Where and when to collect your keys, which you should confirm with your accommodation provider.
- Your chosen car park: covered or outdoor.
If you’d like a space in the covered car park, book it as early as possible. Spaces in the outdoor car park cannot be reserved in advance. Check the weather and traffic conditions before driving up to Avoriaz. Car park information.

Arriving by car, step by step
- 1. Stop at the welcome booth
At the entrance to Avoriaz, stop at the welcome booth and give the name of your residence. A member of staff will explain where to drop off your passengers and luggage.
- 2. Drop off your passengers and luggage
Follow the signs to the unloading bays near the “Accueil station” welcome area. You can drop off your fellow travellers and unload your luggage there.
To make the rest of your journey easier, pack compact, securely closed bags if possible. Keep anything you need straight away within easy reach.
Services available at the resort welcome area:
- Covered and outdoor car parks
- Departure point for tracked vehicles and horse-drawn sleighs
- Luggage sledges (a €1 or €2 coin is needed to release one)
- Heated waiting room
- Luggage storage (leave your bags securely every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for €2 per bag, so you can make the most of your day. Information and bookings: +33 (0)4 50 74 06 45)
- Hot drinks vending machine
- Public toilets
- 3. Park your vehicle
Once you have unloaded, drive to your chosen covered or outdoor car park. Vehicles remain parked near the resort throughout your stay. If you use the outdoor car park, bear in mind that it is approximately 800 metres from the entrance to Avoriaz.
- 4. Get to your accommodation
Return to the welcome area and speak to the staff to arrange transport for your group and luggage to your residence. Transport depends on the season: in winter, horse-drawn sleighs and tracked vehicles operate in the resort; in summer, shuttles carry passengers and luggage. What if you arrive via the Prodains Express cable car?
Located in the Morzine valley, the Prodains Express cable car takes you to Place Jean Vuarnet in Avoriaz 1800 in just four minutes.
From there, you can call to arrange a resort shuttle to your accommodation.

The cable car runs daily during the season according to a set timetable. An outdoor car park is located right next to the lower station.

Car parks
Avoriaz 1800 is a car-free resort where the streets become ski slopes in winter, much to the delight of holidaymakers. There are several different options for parking your car.
Prodains cable car
Located down in the Morzine valley, the Prodains Express cable car takes you to the resort of Avoriaz 1800 in just 4 minutes. You'll find an outdoor car park right next to the cable car.
