On Wednesday 12 August 2026, look up at the sky and experience an exceptional astronomical event from Avoriaz! The Tourist Office entertainment team invites you to meet at the Plaine des Jeux to watch the partial solar eclipse together. The phenomenon will begin at approximately 7:26 pm and reach its maximum at around 8:20 pm. Enjoy this special moment in a unique mountain setting and watch as the Moon gradually covers a large part of the Sun. To observe the eclipse safely, you must use certified glasses specifically designed for solar viewing. Ordinary sunglasses do not provide sufficient protection. You can buy them at the chemist’s in Avoriaz. The viewing session will depend on weather conditions and visibility over the horizon. Practical information Date: Wednesday 12 August 2026

Registration: no registration required Safety instructions Never look directly at the Sun without suitable eye protection. Only solar viewing glasses that comply with the ISO 12312-2 standard may be used to look directly at the eclipse. Ordinary sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not suitable. Cameras, mobile phones, binoculars and telescopes must also be fitted with appropriate solar filters.
