The traditional Christmas show
Every year on 24 December, Avoriaz celebrates the arrival of Santa Claus with its traditional Christmas show, one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the festive season. As night falls, children and adults gather in the heart of the resort to enjoy a truly magical experience.
The evening begins with the illuminated parade of the ESF ski instructors, before giving way to the main event celebrating Santa Claus’s arrival. Light displays, music, staging and pyrotechnic effects then illuminate the resort, creating a magical moment suspended in time and an unforgettable memory for young and old alike.
Celebrate New Year in Avoriaz
After the magic of Christmas, Avoriaz changes pace to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. On the evening of 31 December, the resort turns into a giant open-air celebration, with several stages set up in different areas and DJs keeping visitors dancing in the heart of the snow-covered streets.
You can walk from one atmosphere to another and enjoy the evening in the unique setting of a completely pedestrian resort. Then, at midnight, everyone gathers in the centre of the resort for the traditional fireworks display, lighting up the sky and surrounding mountains as the first moments of the New Year are celebrated together.

Make the most of your skiing during the festive season
The festive season is also the perfect time for long days of skiing and snowboarding. Perched at an altitude of 1,800 metres, with the ski area reaching up to 2,466 metres, Avoriaz benefits from particularly reliable and renowned natural snowfall, offering excellent snow conditions throughout the Christmas holidays.
From the resort, with your skis or snowboard on, you can directly access the vast Portes du Soleil ski area and its many slopes linking different sectors across France and Switzerland. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy full days on the mountain, vary your routes and explore an immense playground before returning at the end of the day to the magical festive atmosphere in the heart of the resort.
