A perfect resort for beginners
In Haute-Savoie, at the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Avoriaz is the perfect resort to discover the joys of skiing. Located at an altitude of 1,800 metres, it guarantees excellent snow conditions throughout the winter. Its ski area has been designed to be progressive, allowing you to learn step by step, gently and confidently. Here, several dedicated zones help beginner skiers take their first turns safely and with pleasure.
The resort offers numerous beginner areas, with wide slopes, gentle gradients, and lifts suited to all levels.

The Plateau
The cradle of first turns
Located on the edge of the resort, the Plateau area is the perfect place to take your first steps on skis or a snowboard. Easily accessible from the centre of Avoriaz, either on foot or via the Dromonts drag lift (very easy to use for beginners), the Plateau offers a safe and friendly environment with stunning views over the resort and the Hauts-Forts. Several nearby restaurants also invite you to take a well-deserved gourmet break.
Thanks to the Écoles drag lift (TK des Écoles), beginners can practise on a safe and fairly wide slope with a gentle gradient, perfectly suited to discovering the joy of gliding. This is where children and adults alike learn the basics, guided by the instructors from Avoriaz’s ski schools.
The Proclou & Super Morzine sector
Learn with confidence
A little lower down, the Proclou / Super Morzine area is a true playground for progression. Its wide, sunny green and blue runs allow skiers to build confidence at their own pace. The lifts are easy to access and comfortable — perfect for linking descents without stress.
This is also a favourite area for families, where everyone can find a slope that suits their level and progress at their own rhythm, all while enjoying a beautiful natural setting in the heart of the forest, with stunning views over the surrounding valley and the Morzine peaks.
You’ll also find a few mountain restaurants, and most importantly, the Lil’Stash, a magical forest playground where little Shreddie hides! Discover treehouses connected by hanging bridges, slides, ropes, wooden sculptures, and games in the middle of the Proclou forest, the perfect spot to make children’s dreams come true.
The Lindarets sector
Progress gently
Once you’ve mastered the basics, the Lindarets area offers a wonderful alternative to keep improving. This sector features more varied yet still accessible slopes, allowing you to take on your first technical challenges safely. It’s the perfect step to build confidence before setting out to explore the other sectors of the Avoriaz and Portes du Soleil ski area.
Beginner ski pass
The Beginner Pass is ideal for learning to ski at an affordable price. Available in 5-hour, 1-day, and 2-day versions, this pass gives you access to the different beginner areas starting from Avoriaz 1800, allowing you to progress at your own pace.
It is valid on the following lifts: 3S des Prodains, TS du Plateau, TS du Tour, TS des Dromonts 1 & 2, TSK Trashers, TSK des Écoles 1 & 2, TSK Chapelle, TC Super Morzine, TS Zore, TSK Baron, TS Serraussaix, TS Proclou, TC Ardent, TS Léchère, and TSK Barmettes.
