The Avoriaz Tourist Office was awarded the “Destination of Excellence” label in autumn 2025 by Atout France. This national distinction recognizes a long-standing commitment to high-quality hospitality, continuous service improvement, and sustainable development.
This label builds on the quality-driven approach implemented in the resort over several years. It marks a new step in structuring and professionalizing practices, with a constant objective: to offer visitors an ever-improving, high-quality experience.
Quality approach
The evaluation carried out as part of this certification is based on a comprehensive audit. It assesses the quality of welcome, internal organization, customer relations, communication strategy, and environmental commitments.
In this context, the reception and information strategy played a key role in the results achieved, with a compliance rate of 93.30% for the quality pillar. The audit particularly highlights the high standard of welcome—described as professional, warm, and personalized—as well as the excellent destination knowledge demonstrated by guest advisors. The strong commitment of teams at all levels is identified as a central factor in this success.
The evaluation also emphasizes the destination’s commitment to more sustainable tourism, with a compliance rate of 97.59% for the eco-responsible pillar. Avoriaz is actively engaged in a transition through concrete actions in energy efficiency, waste management, and awareness-raising. This approach is rooted in a strong local foundation and close collaboration with stakeholders across the region.

Pedestrian resort
Since its creation, Avoriaz 1800 has been designed as a car-free resort, with a unique concept of a 100% pedestrian village. In winter, people move around on skis through snowy streets where skiers, pedestrians and horse-drawn sleighs share a magical setting.
