Mountain bike area Cross Country

Explore as

you Pedal

If you’re a cross-country fan or just enjoy the effort of pedalling before the descent, then Avoriaz 1800 is your ideal destination.

Located at high altitude, Avoriaz has plenty of challenging trails offering superb views! Cross-country mountain biking is a discipline that offers climbs and descents of varying levels of difficulty.

Cross-Country in Avoriaz

Avoriaz features excellent slopes designed to offer the descent without the effort of the climb, thanks to the chairlifts, although keen athletes will be able to complete the loops through their own muscle power!

Itinerary suggestions:

Les Crêtes de Zore

The Crêtes de Zore sector is the perfect place for a pleasant family bike ride. From Avoriaz, head for the top of the Super Morzine gondola lift.

You’ll cycle through the forest along 4×4 tracks and single-track paths that aren’t too steep, so you can take the children with you. This excursion features multiple views over the Mont Blanc, Morzine village and the Chablais summits.
We recommend you take a break at one of the restaurants along the way to discover some of the region’s local specialities.

La Cabane aux Gardes

The Cabane aux Gardes trail is a pleasant route, mostly through forest, offering a rather more physically challenging but very picturesque ride to Les Lindarets!

Seasoned athletes can return to Avoriaz via the Route des Lindarets.
We recommend you stop in the village of Les Lindarets where you can unleash your tastebuds at one of the many bars and restaurants!

UpHill Flow

The UpHill Flow trail is ideal for mountain Ebikers, but will also be appreciated by Enduro and Cross-Country fans. This technically and physically challenging woodland trail is more remote, less frequented, and a delight for seasoned mountain bikers.

The 3km loop covers an elevation range of about 150 metres.
You can stop for a pleasant break at the Lil’Stash BBQ spot! This route is indicated on our mountain bike maps.

The Loop

The Loop Enduro trail is also suitable for Cross-Country mountain bikers. This easy 12km itinerary covers an elevation range of about 350 metres.

From Avoriaz, you’ll cross the Crêtes de Zore where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the Morzine and Montriond valleys. The Loop offers links to all our MTB trails in the Seraussaix and Super Morzine sectors from where you can return to the top of your favourite DH slopes. The itinerary is indicated on our MTB maps.

Morzinette

For sportspeople looking to leave their comfort zone, we suggest you discover Morzinette, a picturesque little mountain hamlet that’s truly an MTB playground. You’ll love these 4×4 tracks and single-track paths.

From Place Jean Vuarnet, go up to the igloo zone and follow signs for Morzinette, which you’ll reach via a superb but challenging single-track path.
To return to Avoriaz, take the 4×4 track down towards Les Prodains, then climb the Crôt slope.

Cross-Country in the Portes du Soleil domain

Avoriaz is right in the heart of the Portes du Soleil mountain bike area, so make the most of this location to discover 600km of waymarked trails between France and Switzerland.

Itinerary suggestion:

The Portes du Soleil tour is a challenging 80km trail with scenery that will take your breath away!

For a real change of scene, take an alternative tour of the villages from any one of the 12 French and Swiss resorts of the Portes du Soleil domain: from Les Gets to Morzine, you can visit Avoriaz, Champéry, Châtel, Lake Geneva, and Lake Montriond. As you pedal, you’ll discover ancient mountain chalets, outstanding plants and wildlife, waterfalls, and the majestic Dents du Midi just opposite!

About a dozen lifts dotted along the way are equipped to carry mountain bikes. You can use them to avoid the most difficult climbs and get a 7,000-metre elevation drop for the 1,000-metre gain that characterises this enduro trail. Seasoned athletes take note: a variant from the top of Châtel takes you across to the Swiss side to explore Torgon.
With a Portes du Soleil lift pass, this tour can be done between late June and the end of August.

The Portes du Soleil Mountain Bike Tour itinerary follows sections of the route used for the big MTB Pass’Portes du Soleil event.
