THE STASH, AN ECOLOGICAL SNOWPARK
Jake Burton, founder of Burton Snowboard, is behind this approach that is reinventing snowboarding.
The Stash allows you to get back in touch with nature in an area where you can safely try out FREERIDING and FREESTYLE..
Located in the heart of an area of untouched and ungroomed snow, it allows you to carry out big turns in powder snow. The pistes run through the huge Les Lindarets forest and are dotted with wooden sculptures and features that you can discover by chance by taking ‘secret passages’.
The Stash offers several ‘intermediate’- to ‘expert’-level routes as well as a ‘Snake run’ (a boardercross with particularly tight raised turns). Halfway along the run there is a cabin, providing the perfect place for a rest and a picnic.
Simon Leclerc, a local artist, was able to capture his portrait and you can find sculptures of this unusual snowboarder amongst the freestyle features.
The STASH and its little brother, LIL’STASH are 2 areas in the middle of the forest created for snow sports fans and nature lovers. In the spirit of eco-friendly skiing and snowboarding, all the features are made of dead wood sourced from local forests..
These spaces are also part of the ski area’s reforestation areas, with public awareness messages that call for more environmentally-friendly skiing.
The Stash is located in the Les Lindarets sector in the Avoriaz ski area and is accessible via the Les Prolays 6-seater chair lift.
The ‘Parks & Stash’ day ski pass allows confirmed ski enthusiasts to access Avoriaz 1800’s Snowparks.
